About Barbados Exposure Notification (B.E.N.)
B.E.N. is the official Government of Barbados exposure notification application sponsored by the Ministry of Health and Wellness. Utilizing privacy-preserving technology developed by Apple and Google, your phone receives message if you may have been exposed to COVID-19. The application is built by Keyed Systems XAFE in partnership with the nonprofit PathCheck Foundation. It uses Bluetooth to exchange anonymous keys with other application users within Six feet of every other for more than 15 minutes. A user who tested positive for COVID-19 may anonymously share a verification key they are provided by contact tracer agents, allowing the system to allow others know when they should take additional care and obtain tested due to potential exposure. Nobody ever knows your identity or location, and no info is tracked or traced back to you.
The application relies on community opt-in! Please share and urge friends, family, and coworkers to run BIMShield. B.E.N. is created available to all locals and visitors by the Government of Barbados to support slow the spread of COVID-19 in our community and help the global war versus COVID-19. Like wearing a mask, social distancing, and washing hands, it adds another layer to our defense versus the virus to create us all safer. The application is part of a comprehensive contact tracing initiative managed by the Ministry of Health and Wellness.
